Siblings

Siblings can be a blessing,

they can even be a gigantic pain
but they can be like the soft breeze
that cools the heat when it rains.
My elder sister is a whiz in all she does
She’s clever as can one ever be
But she’s a regular nutter
Who is as sweet as can be!
She’s full of life & wisdom
and many crazy opinions too
You’ll fall in love with her right away
Like many people usually do
She can be quite a strict disciplinarian
whenever the occasion arises
but she’s more likely to stuff you
with loads of gourmet surprises!
She’s a mother of 2 naughty boys
& I have a cool dude bro-in-law
who’s family is part of our lives completely
We even resemble each other now πŸ˜€
My big brother is super talented
Everyone agrees he’s really good
but when we were younger
we fought like kids in the hood
He’s a father of two precious girls now
And he has a lovely wife
but i can’t believe just yesterday
how we used to fight & strife
He’s over-protective & also annoying sometimes
But this life wont be the same if he was otherwise!
Then the youngest one, our little sister
who’s not so little anymore
She’s everybody’s sweetheart
And she has love to give galore
She’s a lawyer by profession
She can really clinch a deal
But her heart is pure as a baby’s
Her feelings are for real.
She can sometimes be overtly critical
& at times surprise you with candid words
She loves all cuddly things
but is amazingly afraid of birds!
We are all very different
yet we are remarkably the same
We love each other & fight like crazy too
Watching us together can be like watching chimps in the zoo!

butterfly

I have butterflies flitting inside my head at this moment – strange purple coloured ones! Through the course of the day, the mind went through zillions of thoughts – some were plain slapstick… like when I thought how funny would it be if I walked into a glass door! Maybe I’ll do it twice and someone will capture the moment and I shall be immortalised in youtube forever. The crying kid in the tube this morning made me want to do a little funny dance for him with lots of crazy hand movements – sadly there wasn’t even enough space to move my hands about in any direction as the coach was jam-packed. We must’ve been at least 60 people in there trying to get to work or wherever. It’s easy to maintain one’s balance inside such crowded spaces as there’s no where you can really fall & there are enough people to cushion the fall as well! The mother of the child looked really glum – must’ve been all the airline food she ate or didn’t eat on her way to London. Or perhaps the volcanic ash cloud cancelled her marvy plans for the holiday.

OOoh the volcanic ash cloud…now that’s some news to hear this morning. Flights across the UK & Ireland had to be cancelled because of it. Someone had posted pictures of the ash cloud over Manchester but sadly the link wouldn’t open. I was just curious about it’s appearance. How would one differentiate between regular clouds and ash cloud?! The next few days better be regular cloudless because the MET office says that the ash cloud will lead to some spectacular sunsets in this region. Someone said something about a purple sunset & a blue moon! Sadly the moon is only about 5-10% visible over next few days so the moon thing isn’t really going to happen. Oh well, this too happens once in a blue moon (bad zoke naaa hehehe).
The volcanic eruption happened day after there was a 6.9 Richter scale earthquake in Qinghai in western China. Earthquakes are occurring more frequently over western China – wonder why! Have the Chinese invented a new earthquake making super weapon & are testing it out? Or perhaps it’s some other super-power doing that… oooohhhh conspiracy theory! Or is it just the beginning of signs leading to the 2012 Mayan prophecy…oooohhhhh
Loony loopy thoughts!
The butterfly just turned into lilies & then into wallpaper – what to do with this hyperactive imagination of mine.
I watched part of Oprah’s interview with Stephanie Myers (Twilight fame) and Myers speaks of how she got the inspiration for her book. It was in her dreams. Perhaps I should take some inspiration from this as well. I remember most of my dreams and they are just as loopy and sometimes play out like a movie! They can be dramatic with me climbing mountains, flying an airplane, a car, sometimes a cycle – lots of different modes of transport – I highly recommend not trying to analyse my dreams. I wonder how many people remember their dreams.
On that note, I end for today…still wondering… still looking at silvery butterfly images against a deep turquoise backdrop… nice!

so i have also added these 2 other photos that are just great eye candy!

Its bright and sunny outside but the temperature is a cold 8 degrees.

Its snug and warm inside the duvet but I have to get ready to go to work.
Its a big mug of tea in front of me but the biscuits ran out yesterday! (ooh see there they go..running away in full speed towards the neighbour’s garden… oh ooops their dog has come in the way… hmm..that’s it for them now!)
Its a form waiting to be filled but I’ve decided I can’t find a black-ink pen hence it sits on the table looking a little lost.
Its Tuesday once again but what the heck, its a beautiful day anyway!

A million moments ago, in the quaint and the then super-congested city of Calcutta (not Kolkatta), we were a bunch of 10 super noisy and sometimes a little OTT classmates. We wouldn’t have made sense any other way. Well, we thought it would be so cool if we studied a bit of Astronomy! You see the Planetarium in the city used to host short courses for enthusiasts like I dare say, ourselves. So we signed up and hot friend’s beau whom we shall call B, as well. He probably thought it’d be a good way of spending time with hot friend. hehehe And so it began – our evening classes at the planetarium. The planetarium is really beautiful inside and I highly recommend it to anyone who even remotely wants to have a surreal experience without having to go to watch Avatar in IMAX in 3D! πŸ™‚
So we had this professor who I think was teleported out of a Bollywood classic from the 40’s perhaps. The first couple of sessions went well I guess. Of course we weren’t the best of pupils one could ever have had either. We played knots & crosses across the table and got lots of dirty looks from the professor. I don’t blame him. I was constantly yapping with B while my poor hot friend was trying hard to understand the November constellations as hard as she could. And then one of the classes, our professor said – ‘looook at da horaaiijuns… ????!!!’ and we all squinted trying to look at the imaginary horizon… looked all kinda blurry then :-p And then by the third class, B & self got reprimanded for our occasional outbursts of giggles and murmuring when class was on. So we tried to behave as much as we could avoiding the crazy giggles every time the Proff said horaijuns!! Just before the end of the 3rd class, the good proff announced -” naext beek be shaal do calcoolus(next week we shall do calculus)…” whattttt?!!! Calculus…no no no no way… I couldn’t solve seventh grade algebra so calculus was a far cry. The word itself vaguely reminded me of Professor Calculus from all the Tintin comic books I’ve read. Then and there decision was made…I wasn’t going back to the class…ever…never. I dropped out of class faster than go! And that was that… the astronomies was aal in the horaijun for me.
I still love gazing at stars and looking out for meteors and shooting stars and strange unidentified(to me) objects in the night sky but I couldn’t be doing calculus anywhere near the horaijun anytime soon!!

skipping good!

Equanimity!

It’s been a while since I’ve been writing/blogging. There are numerous ideas I have that I want to share. I start writing…the words come easy initially till a debate starts out in my head & I start contradicting what I’ve just penned down so easily! What seemed a funny/cool/strange idea ceases to be so & my brain comes up with more ideas to dull it down or make it seem less cool somehow.

I thought I’d write about how there exists this group of people that are content to go to work every morning from 9-5 and spend the rest of their life doing just that. How they seem to be just fine to go to work, bitch a bit, enjoy the gossip and the tea & coffee, work some more and based on their financial situation or moral preferences take the bus, train, bike or car home! And how there’s another group that can never be content doing exactly that… with a burning desire to change the world, to create something super-duper fantastic, to shine and sparkle!! Every single cell in their body aches to create something extraordinary…. and then there’s everyone else in between.
Then I started writing on a topic called – 10 random things about me… then I chucked the idea as it sounded too full of the person I was writing about :-p Oh yes… there’s always something I feel like writing about Manipur so I thought let’s start a new one. Oh dear! I started with the outflow of talent and skills from the region to the rest of the country & some of us around the world and didn’t realise where I moved into the state of schools in the region and then to insurgency till it came to the point where I was debating how the alienation of a region creates frustrations and in this case takes extreme forms of retaliation. And then whilst I was citing the example of how the brave people of Punjab took up matters into their own hands and brought to an end the long period of insurgency and trouble there, I was zoning!!
Oh yes, there’s another one lying at the back of a notepad somewhere about the vicious cycle of skinny-dom. I gave up when I found myself gaping at a photo of Kareena Kapoor – she looks super cool and super hot at the same time which is a feat in itself and found myself wanting to have a body as fit as hers! She wasn’t even in my list of favourite actresses till I saw Jab We Met!!!
So what am I doing playing all these contradictions in my head. Am I really that muddled up (Oi…don’t nod your head in agreement!) or drastically confused… (you can stop shaking your head now….) A little voice in my head said it’s alright… it’s only a means of not going into extremes, of staying on a middle path. To stay in the middle path and not judging either sides of any story. A story is a story and that’s all there’s to it.
And here I am finishing off today’s blog and still teeming with a zillion other thoughts. Watch this space for more contradictions…ahem thoughts I mean.

Something to smile about

Kids say some amazing things… And it’s so hard to keep a straight face when they are doing so.
I was sitting next to a mother of twin girls in cute red hoodies in the bus. The twins were having an elaborate discussion about their day at school and about how they didn’t like to fight as it made them cry in the end. πŸ™‚
One of the red hooded twin said – we made posters today at school.
Mom – what was it about.
Little Red hoodie- it was on how to get information.
Mom- thts nice (I thought that was nice too considering they were probably just 5-6 year olds). So what did you make?
Little red hoodie – television…. Maps… And bells! (did she just say bells…? Okay…that has my somewhat adult mind wondering!!)
Mom – bells? And by now everyone in the bus has smiled plastered on their faces probably thinking awww..so sweet..kids…etc etc.
Well little hoodie explains – you see when you ring the bell, someone answers the door & you can get information. And when the school bell rings you know if school has started or if it’s time to go home!! So bells give information.:-)
of course that was brilliant & she was adoreable. I loved it and I’m so thankful I was there when this happened!

KEEP SMILING coz u look soooo sweet when you do.

Doesn’t Percy Jackson in Lightning Thief look like Harry Potter from behind… they must be related… Lightning Thief long lost brother of Harry Potter… they both yield strange looking wands/lightning rods, & have odd hairdos… not to mention the posters from Lightning Thief bear an uncanny resemblance – colours, deep staring glazed over looks, to Harry Potter-Goblet of Fire movie posters… hmmm… one would expect some originality but what the heck. I hope this new movie about this Lightning Thief is entertaining!
